Minimally Invasive Esophagectomy (MIE)

MIE is a surgical procedure where the swallowing tube (esophagus) connecting the mouth to the stomach is removed and then reconstructed using the stomach. This procedure is typically done to treat cancer of the esophagus. In this video, a dye called indocyanine-green (ICG) is used to help evaluate vascular perfusion (passage of fluid through the circulatory or lymphatic system).

This surgery was performed by Dr. Gordon Buduhan from Kelowna General Hospital.
